Hanyang University's Startup Support Foundation successfully completed the "Preliminary Startup Company Package Final Demo Day" on the 7th for outstanding companies in the 2019 preliminary start-up package. In 2019, Hanyang University was selected as the organizer of the preliminary start-up package and has supported 33 outstanding start-up companies.
The preliminary start-up package, which is managed by the Ministry of SMEs and Venture business, is a project to find prospective start-ups with innovative ideas. Up to 100 million won was provided for the funding of the commercialization of items, education, and expert mentoring for each team.
The final demo day, which took place at the Grand Hilton Seoul Hotel on the 7th, involved 9 companies among the 33 companies that were selected in the first evaluation and mentoring from the 2019 preliminary start-up package. VC, accelerators, and officials of related organizations were invited to operate counselling booths for enhancing skills such as IR final pitching and legal investment.
Solibis (Shin Dong-wook, CEO), who developed solid electrolyte materials for sulfide; Barajeong (Kim Byung-joon, CEO), who developed online and offline middle management coaching services based on rehabilitation medicine; and BUV (Seo Moon-ji, CEO), who developed a platform for the live sharing of performance videos, busking, schedules, and venue information, were selected as the best companies for Demo Day. The final winners received a small amount of money along with preferential negotiation rights with VCs, accelerators, investors, and officials for seed funding. They will also get the opportunity to participate in programs related to investments organized by Hanyang University.
Ryu Chang-wan, head of Hanyang University's start-up support team, said, "We are actively supporting innovative start-ups nurtured by Hanyang University in various ways such as investment and globalization so that they can scale up." He also added, "Like Demo Day today, we will continue to provide practical help to start-up companies."
